Carmen Electra

The gorgeous and versatile superstar is one of the hottest icons of the 1990's, and of course her stardom continues into the future. Carmen's accomplishments range from appearing on "Baywatch", posing for "" magazine, acting in major movies such as 2000's "Scary Movie" and 2003's "My Boss's Daughter", to her own reality TV show and DVD's. Nee Tara Leigh Patrick, Carmen Electra was born on April 20th, 1972 in White Oak, Ohio. Electra's talents were evident when she was a child, as she attended the School for Creative and Performing Arts at only 9 years old. In school, Carmen began taking singing lessons and practicing her vocal talents. By the time she was a teenager, she was performing in musicals (as a dancer) and doing her own choreographies. Her ultimate ambition was to go to Los Angeles and sign a record deal. And by the tender age of only 15, Carmen was on her way to realizing her dream. Electra decided to relocate to Minneapolis, where she resided with her sister and made a living as a model for Target department stores. After four years, the aspiring star moved to Los Angeles and only one week later ran into musical genius Prince, who decided that she should change her name to Carmen Electra.

Prince liked Carmen's look and style, and he signed her on to his label, Paisley Park Records, in 1992. Unfortunately, despite all of Prince's efforts in helping Carmen by promoting her and her new album, her music career failed miserably. Her single "Go-Go Dancer" hardly got any airtime on MTV, and when the single hit store shelves in 1992, it didn't sell well at all. Perhaps Electra's most noted move was posing for Hugh Hefner's magazine in 1996. The following year, Electra was chosen as the next host of MTV's Singled Out, as a replacement for Jenny McCarthy. Although the deal was for 65 episodes, Carmen was not as popular Jenny and the show eventually fizzled. But she did get another chance as the host of Loveline, also on MTV.

But bigger things lay ahead for Electra -- namely, the role of Lani McKenzie on Baywatch Hawaii, in the 1997 and 1998 seasons (in the post-Pamela Anderson days). Since then, Carmen's fame has only gone uphill. She was featured in a comic book, was the national spokesperson for Budweiser, and appeared in the 2000 sleeper comedy hit of the year, Scary Movie. And Carmen's relationship with Dennis Rodman certainly didn't hurt her publicity. The two tied the knot in 1998 and separated only nine days later -- with Rodman claiming that he wasn't in the right state of mind at the time. The marriage was eventually annulled.

With a failed marriage behind her, Carmen Electra found her niche by taking on small film roles. In 2001, Carmen Electra appeared in Get Over It, Perfume and Sol Goode, and the following year, she was featured in Whacked! and Rent Control. In 2002, she also became a ringside reporter for Comedy Central's BattleBots and the host of Livin' Large. Electra's film career remained somewhat prolific in 2003, with appearances in the made-for-TV movie Baywatch: Hawaiian Wedding and the feature films Uptown Girls and My Boss's Daughter. To the delight of men everywhere, Electra launched the self-explanatory DVD workout series, Carmen Electra's Aerobic Striptease. After all, she has surely been getting quite a workout as a featured performer in the Pussycat Dolls show.

When MTV learned that Carmen was going to marry her long-time beau, Jane's Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro, they decided to give the pair the Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey treatment. As a result, the network launched 'Til Death Do Us Part: Carmen & Dave, a reality show about the months of planning leading up to the couple's November 2003 wedding. The show debuted in January 2004. Carmen is still keeping busy with film work: in 2004 she appeared in the Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson comedy, Starsky & Hutch, and lent her voice to the animated comedy, Lil' Pimp. She can also add 2005's Getting Played, with Vivica A. Fox and Stacey Dash, to her filmography.

Carmen Electra speaks about 'Fit to Strip'

FF: You were once a member of the famous burlesque act the Pussycat Dolls, was this the inspiration behind the strip aerobics series.

Carmen Electra: I think dancing in general was the inspiration. I have been dancing since I was five-years-old so I wanted to incorporate things that I have learned over the years through my experience and Pussycat Dolls being one of them, which is kinda fun because it's the type of workout that isn't boring, you learn dance moves, how to strip-tease and how to give a lap dance. So you never get bored doing it.

FF: Do you need to be a flexible go-go dancer with a pole in her living room or can anybody learn to strip tease like a pro?

Carmen Electra: No actually it's funny you say that. I don't do any pole work on my DVD's because I thought it would be to complicated for people to figure out how to do that without a pole (laughs) so yeah it is basically strip tease, we do dancers warm up to get limber and stretch out your body then there is Fit to Strip which is coming out on Monday and that is with a physical trainer from Hollywood who helps you tighten and tone your body.

FF: What has been the reaction to your "Aerobic Striptease" and "Fit to Strip" DVD's - any success stories from girls getting fit and pulling the guy of their dreams after doing your workout?
Carmen Electra: Yeah actually I get thanked a lot from guys who say that their girlfriends bought it and one of them who actually works on the show Conan (O'Brian) said that his girlfriend surprised him. She had been working on it he had no idea and then surprised him on his birthday and gave him a lap dance

FF: What motivational advice would you give to all us girls who have already broken our new year's resolutions?
Carmen Electra: Don't ever be too hard on yourself - even if you have slipped and haven't really gotten on schedule just take it easy but slowly get yourself back into the pace, get yourself used to working out start and eat healthy.

With Aerobic Strip Tease you can do it at home, it makes it easier for a lot of women that don't necessarily want to go to the gym.
FF: With such a hectic work life how do you find time to maintain your beautiful figure
Carmen Electra: I try to workout whenever I can but sometimes I can't so I have to try to eat healthy just to balance it out.

FF: What?s the one food that makes you want to "ditch the diet"?
Carmen Electra: Pizza!
FF: What do you think is the key ingredient to leading a happy, healthy and fulfilling life?
Carmen Electra: Loving and accepting yourself. Embracing this life.
FF: You are staring in the new movie 'Dirty Love' with Jenny McCarthy, which looks great and very funny many of the movies you have stared in are humours, would you ever consider doing a more serious role
Carmen Electra: Absolutely - you know it is a lot of work and you have to be willing to go a little bit deeper into yourself and reveal such intense feelings which can be really hard, it is sometimes hard to let yourself feel that stuff.

For now I love doing comedy, its fun, I get a laugh out of it, its not take serious so I am enjoying that for now.

FF: Is it true you have set up the 'Carmen Electra's Woman's Wrestling League'?
Carmen Electra: Yeah actually I hosted an event, um it was really funny I didn't actually get to see the girls wrestle , which I was kinda disappointed about. I actually wanted to watch, I thought it would be funny but I just did hosting which was done in a studio so I didn't get to see any of the fun stuff.
FF: Any romance tips can you give to us girls who haven't yet got a valentines date yet
Carmen Electra: Oh romance tips, well if you do have a valentine what you can do is go get Aerobic Strip Tease, practise and you know you could do a strip tease for your boyfriend or your husband. If you don't have a valentine my advice is hang out with your girlfriends, don't go looking for someone, when it's right they'll come to you.
FF: Apart from your new movie and the release of Strip to Fit what does 2005 have in store for Carmen Electra?
Carmen Electra: I am putting together a new burlesque group, right now we are called the Bombshells but I think our name may change so I look forward to a lot of dancing, the movie I did with Jenny McCarthy and Aerobic Strip Tease.
FF: Will you be touring with your burlesque act
Carmen Electra: I would love to we just did our very first show so it's fairly new.
FF: Any chance you would be coming to the UK
Carmen Electra: I hope so - that would be awesome.

Carmen Electra is Tripping the Rift

Carmen Electra (Summerland) has joined the cast of Sci Fi Channel's hit animated series Tripping the Rift. The second 13-episode season of the humorously risque half-hour series from IDT Film Roman (The Simpsons, King of the Hill, X-Men: Evolution) is slated to debut in July. A hilarious send-up of all things sci-fi, Tripping the Rift follows the adventures of Jupiter 42, a smuggling vessel led by a stumpy purple alien named "Chode" who, along with his colorful group of misfit shipmates, battles archenemies and new obstacles in space each week.

Electra will lend her voice to the role of the y and brilliant love slave "Six," the most advanced android ever created. Aside from serving Chode's carnal needs, Six is also the unheeded voice of reason on the ship, acting as Chode's often-nonexistent conscience. Actors reprising their roles for season two include Stephen Root as Chode, the ship's captain; Maurice LaMarche as "Gus," his ually-confused and verbally-abused robot slave; Gayle Garfinkle as "T'Nuk," the ship's aesthetically-challenged pilot; Rick Jones as "Whip," Chode's teenaged slacker nephew; and The Tonight Show With Jay Leno's John Melendez as the halting voice of the Jupiter 42 -"Bob" to his crew - the fastest ship in the galaxy.

This July, Chode and his crew of misanthropes will anchor an evening of Sci Fi original programming featuring Ghost Hunters, which returns for a second, highly-anticipated season and follows a real-life group of moonlighting "ghostbusters" as they investigate hauntings throughout the country, and the new, rocket-bolstered alternative reality series Master Blasters.

Carmen Electra came to town to promote her new Striptease Fitness DVD, and took some time out to chat to Vic Saggers about why stripping is the new thing.

Echoing the thoughts of thousands of women across the country, Carmen revealed that working out in the gym is plainly tedious - so she added a bit of stripping here and a bit of lapdancing there to give it some spice.

But just in case people (namely boys) had the wrong idea about the DVD, she made it quite clear that it isn't just her getting sweaty and getting her kit off.

There's only one guy who gets to see Carmen in stripping action and that's her husband, musician Dave Navarro.

"I'm not on this video taking my clothes off - I'm in workout clothes. No I don't get but you can if you want to.

"The only time I would do a striptease and actually take off my clothes is if I was performing for Dave... if I was giving him a little treat then I would do that - but as far as just working out I like the regular workout clothes, you know for comfort," she admitted.

Getting Your Knickers In A Twist

When quizzed about whether the stripping would work for the more clumsy among us, Carmen revealed that, although she's never fallen flat on her face, she reckons it would be very sweet if someone did.

"You have to keep doing it to get it right, it's about repetition, doing it over and over again - once it gets stuck in your head, you don't have to worry about falling over - but I think that's adorable."

She did admit that plenty of guys are buying the DVD for their girlfriends, evidently hoping that they'll get a free lapdance out of it and also - more of a long shot - probably hoping that their lady might end up looking like Carmen.

"You can perform for your boyfriend or husband, and you can give them a lapdance or a striptease - it can be used for this purpose or just to keep fit," she explained.

Pole Dancing Next?

Carmen clearly isn't shy to try out new things and has pole dancing on her list of things to try out - but would rather take some lessons first.

"There are pole dancing cles and I'm dying to go take them because pole dancing is really hard. I really want to try that but it would have to be something I'd have to work towards.

"I'd have to take cl - it takes a lot of upper body strength and it hurts... it really hurts your inner thighs and it feels like it's ripping your skin."

So for now, Carmen will just concentrate on stripping and lapdancing - which she loves and hopes to p on some of that enthusiasm to the rest of us.

"It was great fun to come up with the lapdance DVD... I got to try it out on Dave. Did it work? Absolutely," she admitted.

Tedious Toning

And judging by her figure, clearly peeling your clothes off whilst doing a spot of aerobic exercise works and is nothing but fun, as she reiterates:

"I get really bored with workouts, so to me there are just so many fun things you can do with this and it's just another reason to look forward to a workout, you kno, instead of dreading it."

She explained that the reason she opted to do this DVD was because, having done so much dance training, she realised how beneficial it was for her physique:

"I've been dancing my entire life. I've had years when I've stopped dancing and then started up again, and I've noticed that the more I'm dancing the better my body is."

She's hoping that any woman, anywhere, can benefit from her special workout:

"I think it's cool because, for women who wouldn't feel comfortable going to the gym and taking a cl in front of other people, they can do it in the privacy of their own home and find their own inner iness and become more confident."

And for the boys out there... sadly she hadn't thought about whether blokes could also benefit directly from her workout video.

But she added kindly: "I'm really open to anyone who wants to try it - I'm not going to judge anyone."

Amy Smart & Carmen Electra: "Starsky & Hutch"

Starsky and Hutch may be about the guys, but in this seventies-set comedy, the beautiful Amy Smart and y Carmen Electra also manage to spice things up. It's a hard job but someone has to do it. Electra in particular, looked the part, braless, perky and talking about her recent marriage, threesomes and comedy.

Question: Were either of you ever really cheerleader?

Smart: Nope.

Electra: I was. For a semester.

Question: Was it weird doing the whole threesome thing?

Smart: Just jump right into it. [LAUGHS]

Electra: I was actually looking forward to it.

Question: What do you find most attractive in that. Can you elaborate?

Electra: I don't know. We auditioned together and I auditioned with a bunch of different girls, as did [Amy]. I don't know. We had a lot of fun together, we had chemistry. And actually, in the auditions, I said, 'I wouldn't mind kissing her,' because I read the script and I knew there would be a kissing scene. So, it was fun. You kinda get away with doing something that you wouldn't normally do.

Question: Was she a good kisser?

Electra: [LAUGHS]. Just jump to the...

Smart: We had fun. We had a fun time. We ended up shooting at two in the morning. We were all sort of delirious. Sober, but it was two in the morning and we'd been there since six so, you know. We were ready to shoot the scene and we just went for it and I had a really fun time.

Question: Is it difficult to keep a straight face with people like Stiller and Owen?

Smart: I think it is. I think it's hard to keep a strait face because they're so funny in each take.

Electra: Even just looking at them when they're not acting. Just, like, in the costumes and with the hair and the whole thing. They're so funny.

Question: Are they a little bit more subdued when doing takes?

Smart: I think it mixes up a little bit. I think Ben is more serious because he is a director as well and he has more of that mind frame. Um, but, they're both improving and trying new things each take and that's what's really fun about it. It's a mixture of wanting to get it right and then playing with it.

Question: What did you think of the 70's clothes?

Electra: Yeah, well I have pictures where my mom was wearing those high-waisted jeans. I was born in 72 so a lot of it I don't really remember. But, it was fun and I got to wear platforms which is always good in my book, because I'm only 5' 3.

Question: Did you ever wear the costumes home?

Electra: No.

Smart: No, you can't. They never let you, because in case you have to do re-shoots.

Question: Carmen, how's married life?

Electra: It's amazing. I'm really happy.

Question: Is it everything you expected it to be?

Electra: And more. He's my best friend, so, it feels good. Even to have the show. We were really nervous about having the show, but now we're really happy we did it. It feels solid. I know that he's got my back. It feels good.

Question: How was your first married Valentine's Day?

Electra: It was very mellow because I have a knee injury. We haven't had our honeymoon yet and we didn't get to do anything for Valentine's Day so...

Question: So what's you're ideal honeymoon?

Electra: Hawaii. Yeah.

Question: So what did you do on Valentine's Day Amy?

Smart: I just had a really low... Just went to dinner.

Question: Are you still engaged?

Smart: I was never engaged. See [holds up ring had] No ring. [LAUGHS]

Question: Carmen, are their kids in your future soon?

Electra: I hope so. I mean, I love kids. I'm ready to get started at any time and I know MTV's ready too because they're hoping that we would do a show about that. [LAUGHS]

Question: Maybe what leads up to the kids then?

Electra: I think that might be a little X-rated so I don't know that they would go for that, but I think, actually, the pregnancy. But I think that's kind of a personal thing so I don't know if I would want to share that with the world. But I'm not pregnant yet.

Question: Did you go to Sundance with Butterfly Effect?

Smart: Yeah.

Question: I was there and I heard that people very excited when Demi walked in?

Smart: Really?

Question: Did you think the critical reaction to it was a little bit harsh?

Smart: I, you know... First of all, I thought the premiere was amazing and I'm really glad it took place at Sundance because it is essentially an independent film, it was made for nine million. I understand that because Ashton's been in the media so much that there's always going to be some backlash and harsh criticism. But, you know, it's still making great money and it's still in the top box office and I think it's a good movie so... I had a good experience there, though.

Question: Did Ben and Owen improv?

Electra: Yeah, like Amy said, every take was completely different, which makes it more fun for us because you never know what they're gonna do and it doesn't become stale because it's not the same lines every single time so, for us, we loved it.

Smart: We had fun, especially in that... They cut some of our part out which I'm not happy with. The fondue stuff!

Electra: Oh, I know.

Smart: But that's okay. But that was a fun scene that we shot in the apartment when we were on the date. There was like a whole fondue part before we got into the scene and that to me was sort of fun because we were all just sort of improving. But they do definitely improv and have a good time.

Question: Do they encourage you to?

Smart: Not really. [LAUGHS]

Electra: Remember, there's a scene where we go into the kitchen and they were on the couch. It's not in the movie, but, you know, Todd was kinda, 'Improv,' so we did and that was fun. It was really fun.

Question: What's the wildest date either of you have been on?

Electra: I don't know. I've had quite a few. We'd be here all night. The wildest? I don't know.

Smart: I don't really have anything.

Question: What's next?

Smart: I just have an independent coming out in March I think called Blind Horizon. But, not working at the moment. Looking for another good job hopefully.

Electra: We just finished Till' Death Do Us Part, which is on right now and I just finished shooting an independent film with Vivica Fox called Getting Played.

Question: Who do you get played with?

Electra: It's a story about these three girls who are great friends and they decide to turn the tables on men and the first guy that walks through the door is Bill Bellamy, so we all take turns trying to seduce him, so it's kinda like a contest. And in the end, we think we're playing him but he's playing us.

Question: And what's Blind Horizon?

Smart: It's an independent I did a little over a year ago with Val Kilmer and Sam Shepard and Neve Campbell. It's going to the festival, I heard, in Austin.

Question: What do you play?

Smart: A nurse. A nurse who, Val's character has amnesia and I nurse him in the hospital and we end up falling in love.

Question: Where do your musical tastes lay these days?

Electra: I've always loved hip-hop, but I grew up with many different styles of music because my dad is a musician. My mom liked disco, my brother liked rock n' roll, my dad liked soul music, so I like everything, really, except for country. I even like clical music, studying ballet, but Dave sort of brought me into the rock world a little bit more, so I've learned to appreciate it. Just, real instruments, real playing. Dave's so talented, he can just pick up a guitar and just start rocking out and I respect that so much, because I grew up around it and I've always had a love for music.

Question: Do you stay together when he goes on tour?

Electra: We try to, but it's really hard because we're always both in different cities, but, you know, I think it's actually healthy in our relationship. I took a leap of faith and trust that he's being good to me so I don't need to follow him around everywhere.

Question: Were you involved in any of the cheer leading scenes, because that's some pretty good dancing.

Smart: Well, I was trying to just keep up, but she was the real dancing shoes.

Electra: We had a choreographer come in and she worked with us and it was fun.

Question: Did you study a lot of cheer leading tapes?

Smart: We watched the Dallas Cowgirls, like from the 70's with the white go-go boots...

Electra: And the hair.

Smart: ...And the hair.

Question: How committed was the production to preserving period detail?

Smart: So committed. Everything. The costumes, they were getting all original costumes or they were remaking them to fit and look just right. And then the set department. Every set was very, you know, with shag carpet...

Electra: Even with the hair and make-up department, some of the girls that did our hair, they actually did Farrah Fawcett back in the day, so we got the OG real stuff.

Question: Are you fans of the 70's?

Electra: Yeah, absolutely.

Smart: Yeah, definitely. The music and the movies. The fondue and the outfits.

Question: Any favourite musicals in the 70's. Grease?

Electra: Oh yeah. Grease was my favourite.

Question: What is your favourite animal movie?

Electra: I don't know. But I do watch Animal Precinct. Oh my God. Thank God for those people. It's so sad. It's so disturbing. It's interesting to me. Old Yellow, The Cat From Outer Space. That was the first movie I watch. Bambi. Broke my heart. Charlotte's Web. You know, you get me started.

Meet Carmen Electra

Whether she’s on MTV, on the big screen in Starsky & Hutch or in the pages of this very magazine, there’s no avoiding Carmen Electra. But we get the feeling that you don’t mind.

When you think about it, I owe Carmen Electra a big hug. If the actress hadn’t been born with such beauty and talent and worked so hard to become a celebrity, I wouldn’t be sitting across from her in the café of the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills pretending that I’m an actual adult. But, sadly, the sultry stunner doesn’t want a hug. Instead, she wants to talk about her nauseatingly perfect marriage to Jane’s Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro; her MTV reality show, ’Til Death Do Us Part: Carmen & Dave; her role in the most highly anticipated movie of the spring, Starsky & Hutch; and, of course, camel toe. I sat down with Carmen over some ice-cold soda pops. And, for the record, Carmen ordered a regular Coke while I opted for diet. (At least one of us is watching our figure.)

STUFF: Feel free to order anything you want. Well, as long as it costs under $10.
CARMEN: [Laughs] Don’t worry. It’s on me.

Awesome! Are you the most attractive person ever to come from Ohio?
Halle Berry is, by far. She’s gorgeous. Bootsy Collins is from Ohio. I wouldn’t necessarily say he’s the most attractive, but he’s extremely talented. [Laughs]

You just got back from your honeymoon. Please give me all the racy, sordid details that I have no right to know.
Actually, we really didn’t have a honeymoon. We’ve been traveling a lot, so we didn’t want to go anywhere. We had a week at home in Los Angeles, and it felt good just to stay home and watch movies and order pizza—just get back into our regular lives.

Carmen jolts us with stories about her Pussycat prowls, her new sideman (Dave Navarro) and what it’s like to role-play with the pom-poms of a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader.

Stuff: Is it hard knowing that every guy on the planet—besides Bruce Vilanch and RuPaul—wants you?
Carmen: What’s been hard for me is picking up a magazine and reading some of the stuff that they write. If I’m at a party, and there’s a famous guy there who says hi, the next thing you know, it’s written in the paper that we’re dating. It’s flattering, but it upsets me when in the media I’m linked to someone I just talked to. But Dave is funny. One day I was sad about it, and he goes, “What do you have to worry about? They’re all rad guys.”

On the subject of rad guys, tell us about your role in Starsky & Hutch.
I play a cheerleader who ends up going on a couple of dates with Hutch, who’s played by Owen Wilson.

That’s the Wilson brother with the really weird nose, right?
I’m not going to answer any questions about Owen Wilson’s nose.

OK, back to cheerleading—will guys get to see your pom-poms?
The movie takes place in 1975, so the wardrobe is really funky and fun. I actually went online and looked up the ’75 Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, because I always thought they were the most beautiful women. I was curious how they wore their hair, the way they danced and the moves that they used.

You’re no slouch on the dance floor either. Any tips for those of us who are about as graceful as a moose?
You might want to take some hip-hop cles. But if you don’t have rhythm and you’re not willing to take a cl, I suggest that you just don’t dance at all. [Bad dancing] can be a turn off.

Carmen Get It!

What’s Carmen Electra up to? Good question. So we went ahead and asked her.

Usually it’s here in the introduction that we go over our esteemed cover girl’s past. But we’re guessing you’ve heard or read just about everything you need to know about Carmen Electra’s history, and we’re also guessing you’d rather eat a bag of hair than have to read anything concerning Dennis Rodman, or worse, Fred Durst. And we’re also guessing you like long walks in the park and coffee ice cream with rainbow sprinkles. See, more good guessing! Now, on to the interview!

STUFF: So, you’re dressed like an angel in our shoot. What’s the most nonangelic thing you’ve ever done?
CARMEN: One time in my late teens a bunch of friends and I were playing Spin the Bottle. I knew we were going to play, so I put on tons and tons of clothing so I’d end up being the winner. [Editor’s note: We think she means strip poker.]

OK. Anything more recent?
Oh, that would have to be at a sushi restaurant here in Los Angeles. We were both going to use the rest room, and when Dave [husband-to-be Dave Navarro of the Red Hot Chili Peppers] went to walk in, he grabbed me by the arm and pulled me in, locked the door and…well, you can use your imagination.

What do you like in a man?
A goatee. I like those. And feet.

Feet?
OK, not all feet. But manicured, clean, nice feet on a man are incredibly y.

I’ve heard talk of a Baywatch reunion. Should we be scared?
It’ll be fun to bring everyone together. We were supposed to do one right before 9/11, and obviously we didn’t. I’ve been hearing rumors that pretty much everyone is onboard.

Have you heard the rumor: Carmen Electra—pregnant with alien baby? It’s true, isn’t it?
There were a lot of rumors going around that I was pregnant, but not with an alien baby—oh, let’s hope not.

Do you think you could take out your Singled Out predecessor, Jenny McCarthy, in a catfight?
In my very first episode of Singled Out, when she sort of ped on the mic, she picked me up over her shoulder. She’s a strong girl, so I wouldn’t want to be in a catfight with her. Actually, I wouldn’t want to be in a catfight at all.

Oh, come on.
It’s funny because my whole family studies karate. My mom was a third-degree black belt in jujitsu. I have four brothers who would always wrestle with me, and my mom would teach me a lot of karate moves.

What’s your best move?
I know how to flip people. Say you’re facing that person: You take your right leg and stick it behind their feet on the other side, you stick your hip out and you grab them around the neck. Then you can flip them right over.

Who’s gotten on your bad side?
I can honestly say that in the fourth grade I was a little bully, but only to boys. They never told on me, but I feel awful now. There was one boy, and I used to make him carry my book bag every day. Then there was another boy—I used to take his lunch money. If I could, I’d love to find him—I think his name was Isaiah. I would love to find Isaiah and give him his money back.

What’s your favorite bedroom move?
Kissing. It’s so sensual. I remember my first kiss with Dave. I think it was on our third date.

You made him wait till the third date?
He’s such a gentleman. He was dropping me off at my house, and we were in the car, and he started kissing me and then we moved outside the car. People were driving around the block in circles [watching us].

Is there a body part that you like kissed the most?
Probably my inner thigh. Yeah. You’re close, but you’re not quite there.

What does the phrase “Magic Wand” mean to you?
Oh, I know what you’re getting at. Let’s just say, every woman’s got a magic wand hidden away somewhere.

When you tell people you attended Princeton…High School, do you ever just stop at the Princeton part?
Never. I’m very honest.

Ever get a secondhand high from kissing B Real [from Cypress Hill]?
A secondhand high? [Laughs] No. I have to say that he’s a really good person.

One thing you might want to consider before going down the aisle is what Dave looks like sans goatee.
I’ve seen pictures of him without the goatee. I think in early Jane’s Addiction he did not have a goatee.

Well, that was a while ago. We had the STUFF art department work a little magic on a recent photo of him, and you may find the results shocking. [We pull out a doctored photo of a beardless Dave sporting one hell of a smile.] Is this the man you still want to marry?
[Laughs/screams] Absolutely! He is gorgeous! And you know what? I have to say that in this picture I can tell that the lip is kind of missing, and that is the problem, because he has great, full lips. So that picture [laughs], that picture is not accurate. Can I keep this? I can’t wait to show Dave—he’s going to love this.
